AI generatedThe Hotel Lobby trend is a short-video format where two people appear in a bright orange room and trade verses at a single microphone hanging from the ceiling, recreating a 2022 performance by Quavo and Takeoff of Migos. Since September 2026 most versions are made with AI: creators upload two photos to an AI video generator and post the result with the original song as the sound.
Where the Hotel Lobby trend came from
The 2022 COLORS performance
COLORS is a music channel known for filming artists alone in a single-colour room. In June 2022 Quavo and Takeoff, performing as a duo, recorded “Hotel Lobby” there: a seamless orange set, one black mic dangling between them, a fixed camera, and the two of them passing the verse back and forth. The video became one of the most recognisable COLORS sets, and it took on extra weight after Takeoff’s death in November 2022.
The 2026 AI remakes
In September 2026 TikTok creators started feeding photos into AI video models and asking for “two people in the orange COLORS booth with one hanging mic”. The first viral versions starred TV characters, then cats, grandmothers, athletes and historical figures. Because the set is so simple (one colour, one mic, one camera angle) the AI can reproduce it reliably, and the joke lands in a couple of seconds: someone who should never be in a rap booth is suddenly in one.
Why the Hotel Lobby trend works
- Instant recognition. Orange room plus hanging mic reads as “Hotel Lobby” before any sound plays.
- Built for two. It is a duet format, so it is naturally shareable: you tag the person on the other side.
- Low effort. No filming, no choreography, just two photos.
- Endless casting. Best friends, couples, a dog and a cat, a boxer and a kangaroo. The stranger the pairing, the better.

How to join the Hotel Lobby trend
- Pick your duo. Decide who stands on the left (raps first) and who stands on the right.
- Get two clear photos. One subject per photo, face visible, decent light.
- Generate the clip. On LobbyVideo, upload both photos, choose the Orange Booth stage and press Generate. A Standard 10-second video costs 10 credits ($2.50–$4.95 depending on the pack) and usually takes 3–15 minutes.
- Add the sound and post. Our videos come with an original AI beat. In TikTok or Instagram, add the trending Hotel Lobby song as the sound, and caption it with the trend hashtags.
Variations of the trend
Pets in the booth
Cats and dogs standing on their hind legs at the mic are one of the most shared variations. LobbyVideo has a dedicated Pet Duo stage; see Hotel Lobby AI with cats and dogs.
The actual hotel lobby
Some people take the name literally and put the duo in a hotel hallway. Our Red Lobby stage does that with a red-toned corridor and warm wall lights.
Prompt remixes
Creators who use general AI video tools write their own prompt. If you are curious how the booth is described to the model, our Hotel Lobby AI prompt is public.
Things to keep in mind
- Use photos you are allowed to use. Your own, or people who said yes. Celebrity photos are rejected.
- It is a parody format. The result is AI generated and labelled as such; it is not the real Migos footage and should not be presented as real.
- Not every render is perfect. AI sometimes gets hands or the mic cable wrong. Failed renders refund their credits automatically.
